I'm a few days late with this, but Lola is now five months old!
She is getting more alert and interactive each day, which is so fun. I love to see her grab toys and actually look like she's playing with things. We bought a jumper seat for downstairs (we have an exersaucer upstairs), and she seems to like sitting in it. Mainly just chewing on the toys :) We've also started putting her the Bumbo seat. She seemed to grow bored of sitting in the rocker when we were in the kitchen, so we had to find alternative seating options.
We have not seen any teeth yet, but we're pretty sure Lola is teething. She's drooling a ton and chewing on everything. We think we feel her molars coming in, which is weird since usually the front teeth come in first.
Sleep is still inconsistent. In December she started waking up twice a night, which is WAY worse than once a night. Traveling for the holidays and being in a new place didn't help. But at the beginning of January, she went back to just one waking a night. Sometimes she would wake up around midnight or 1, but Joseph would put her back to sleep, so I only had to feed her when she woke up around 3 or 4.
But then this week a miracle happened - she slept for 11 hours four nights in a row! I was amazed. I'm not holding my breath that she'll keep this up, but it would be wonderful if she did. Now I know she doesn't really need to eat in the middle of the night, so if she wakes, I may not feed her and just see if I can get her back to sleep. I have heard her wake a few times and put herself back to sleep, which is definitely progress. We've also started putting her to bed without rocking or nursing her to sleep, so she is slowly learning what bedtime means and figuring out how to go to sleep on her own. We usually put her to bed between 7:30 and 8pm and she gets up for the day sometime between 6:30 and 7:30am.
We haven't started solids yet, but we've started thinking about it and plan to start when she's six months old. For now, she seems to be content with breast milk. The nanny has increased her feedings to 4 ounces (4 times a day), and I'm still nursing her in the mornings and evenings.
I'm not sure how much she weighs, but she definitely feels heavy! Our next doctor's appointment is at the beginning of February.
And because I haven't posted in a while, here are a ton of photos...
