Lola - 7 Months

Well, I'm quite behind on the blog, aren't I?  Lola was 7 months on March 7...and is now almost 8 months.  Here's what she's been up to since my 6-month post.

  • Sitting up - She is sitting up very well now and rarely falls over.  She's starting to lean forward and reach for toys, so I think she's getting close to crawling.
  • Teething - We thought she was teething several times in the past few months, but she never actually got a tooth.  Now I can finally see one about to poke through her gums.  It's resulted in a little fussiness over the past few days, but nothing too bad.
  • Eating - We started giving Lola food around 6 months, but she still hasn't really taken to it.  We tried just mashed up food (banana, avocado, etc.) at first, and when that didn't work, we switched to purees (some homemade, some store-bought).  She'll take a few spoonfuls, but never very much.  We're going to keep working on it and hopefully she'll soon discover how wonderful food is!
  • Sleeping - We retired the sleep suit last month, and since doing that, Lola has started to roll over and sleep on her tummy.  She seems to really like sleeping on her tummy, which surprises me since she's always hated tummy time.  Lola is still waking once or twice at night, and I usually feed her once, but we're "sleep training" her this weekend.  We're trying to avoid feeding her and get her to go back to sleep on her own (without rocking, laying in bed with her, etc.).  Last night she went to bed at 8pm and woke up at 2am, so Joseph went up and soothed her off and on for an hour until she went back to sleep.  Then she slept until 7am, which is much better than I expected - I thought she'd wake at least a few times.  We're hoping tonight goes well too and that within a week or so, she'll be sleeping through the night.
  • Playing - Lola seems to develop new skills every day.  She is always reaching for toys and seems to have a good grip.  She loves to put toys in her mouth.  She likes to watch balls roll around and try to grab them.  She loves her jumper and plays in it most mornings while we eat breakfast and get ready for work.
  • Personality - Lola is still a super happy baby.   She smiles a ton, and it's so sweet when she smiles at you when she sees you walk into the room.  She loves Lucy and likes to pet her and grab her fur (luckily Lucy puts up with it).
Now here are a million photos.

  1. Wow, she suddenly seems so grown up! I suppose it's how well she is sitting up. She is as precious as ever! I especially like the photo you labeled "smiles." Makes me smile!
