Lola is now 16 months, but I'll make this a combined 15 and 16 month post.
Health
Here are her stats from her 15-month doctor's appointment (on November 12, so I'm sure she's grown since then):
- Weight = 24 lbs 11.5 oz (88.8%)
- Height = 30.75 in (57.8%)
- Head = 18.25 in (59.2%)
She is definitely growing well, as is evidenced by her belly. She got a few shots at the doctor's, but she took them very well. We also had to go back last week for a flu booster shot, and she barely even made a sound. Such a tough little girl. She did get sick last week and had a fever off and on for a week. We kept her home from school two days and took her to the doctor, but he said there was nothing wrong, that it was probably just a virus or teething. She was terribly fussy, the worst she's ever been - waking a lot at night, inconsolable at times. But mostly she just wanted to cuddle. The fever went away, and we're still not sure what caused it. I'm just glad it's over and that she hasn't been sick more often.
Eating
Lola continues to be a great eater. We don't usually have a problem getting her to eat, although she is starting to show preferences and will shake her head "no" if she doesn't want something. She does the "more" and "eat" signs consistently to tell us when she wants food, which is really helpful. Her favorite foods are currently avocado, bread, eggs, cheese, and pineapple. She also loves it when Daddy makes pancakes. She drinks a good bit of milk and also really likes water. She calls all cups of liquid "wawa". Lola has become pretty good at using a fork. She can spear her own food and bring it to her mouth. She can also use a spoon, but if the food isn't sticky, it usually slides off before it makes it to her mouth. She looks like she'll be a lefty, as she prefers to use her left hand.
Teeth
Lola has 12 teeth now - the four front on both top and bottom, and the first four molars. I thought she might have been getting her canines in last week when she had the fever, but no teeth have poked through yet.
Sleeping
We've stuck with putting Lola to bed at 7 pm, although it's sometimes 7:30 by the time she actually goes to sleep. The past week or so she has slept until 7 or 7:30, which is good and bad - it's nice for us to get the extra sleep, but it slows down our morning routine and makes us late for work (because of course we keep sleeping rather than get up before her). Other than when she was sick last week, she hasn't been waking in the night. She's started sleeping with her water cup and is very upset if she doesn't have it.
Talking
Lola says some words, although I haven't really been keeping track. I honestly don't know what her first word was (which I feel really bad about), since I'm not sure when it stopped being babble and started being words. She says the following pretty consistently and accurately:
- Water ("wawa")
- Bye ("bai")
- Mama
- Dada
- Diaper ("biper")
- More ("mo")
- No
- Yeah
Lola is still the sweetest and happiest little girl. She smiles so big at me and it just melts my heart. I love her!!
