Kitchen art

We have a very empty wall in our kitchen, and I struggled for a long time to decide what to put there.  Eventually, I found prints of food at Fine Art Prints Store, and I thought they would be perfect for our kitchen.

It wasn't as easy as I expected.  The prints are a strange size, so I couldn't buy standard frames.  Instead, I bought 11x17 frames at Michaels and had custom mats cut at Hobby Lobby (I just discovered Hobby Lobby, and it is fantastic!).

Adding another complication was our wall.  It is made of plaster and not the easiest thing to put nails in.  Luckily there is a picture rail, so I ordered hooks from House of Antique Hardware and OOK hanging wire from Amazon.

I spent last Friday night hanging these (yes, I lead an exciting life).  Lining the frames up was a difficult task - I cut the wire in equal lengths and marked where I should tie the knot.  Easier said than done, because when I tied the knot inevitably it would move a little and not be right on my mark.  They are not exactly in line, but it looks good enough to me, so I'm leaving it.

Voila!  A hanging picture.

Now our boring wall looks much better!
