Last weekend we got to meet Parker, the baby girl of our friends Abby and Stephan. She is SO adorable! She has a full head of dark hair and is so tiny and cute. We brought them dinner, and they graciously let us hang out for a couple of hours to hold Parker and hear all about the birth. It was very helpful and encouraging to hear their story, as well as tips about having a newborn. They live in Cabbagetown about one mile from us, so we hope to hang out often and make our little girls be friends.
Saturday I went to water aerobics, which was great - it always helps relieves my aches. Then I spent the afternoon shopping. I went to Ikea and bought a bunch of stuff for the nursery, including new bedding for the queen bed that we're going to leave in the room. Then I went to Target to buy more summer maternity clothes. When I got home, I set up everything in the nursery and it looks great!
Joseph was busy most of the weekend working on our rental house in East Atlanta. He had put up a new awning over the back deck a couple of weeks ago, and now he's putting on the finishes touches.
Sunday morning I met Stephanie and two of her friends, Rochelle and Dione, for brunch. All four of us are pregnant! It was fun to talk babies and pregnancy for a few hours with people that are going through the same thing. We are all pregnant for the first time, although Rochelle has an adopted son, so she was able to give us some "experienced mom" advice.
Sunday afternoon we had our first childbirth class. We're taking a class that my doula teaches through her group Labor of Love. We both really liked it. It was informative but casual, and there were only five couples, so we got to know each other a bit. We have two more classes, one this Sunday and one the following Sunday.
This weekend is my baby shower in Atlanta, and I'm really looking forward to it! My mom is flying in tonight to spend a week with us, and Joseph's parents are coming into town this weekend. Plus Paige and Kelly are flying in from DC. I'm so excited to see everyone!
