This past weekend was Father's Day, and we were lucky enough to have Joseph's father (as well as his mother and my mother) in town. Unfortunately my father stayed in Pittsburgh, but he said he had a wonderful weekend relaxing in solitude :)
My mom arrived last Wednesday evening, and Joseph's parents arrived Thursday afternoon. We spent the first few nights just relaxing at home and catching up. On Friday, we went out to dinner at Mezcalito's, a fairly new Mexican restaurant in Grant Park. It was delicious, even though I wasn't feeling too well.
Saturday morning we all went for a leisurely walk in the park with Lucy. She loved having five people on her walk! It was starting to get hot, but it was still manageable. Then my mom, Diane, and I went to Ikea to pick up a few items for the nursery while Joseph and Joe went to our rental house to cut the grass. Saturday afternoon was my shower (see separate post). While the ladies were away, the men worked in the yard, cutting back our HUGE azalea tree to a more reasonable size.
Saturday evening Julie, Jake, Rebecca, Rachel, and Reagan came down for dinner. Joseph grilled a delicious meal for all of us, and we had fun spending time with family. The girls loved playing with Lucy (as usual). We all went to bed early after a tiring day.
Sunday we went to the Atlanta Botanical Gardens for Father's Day. Julie, Jake, and the girls met us there. There is a new exhibit called Imaginary Worlds with some amazing topiaries. They were beautiful, and the girls really loved finding them throughout the grounds. Joe is a plant and garden enthusiast, so it was a perfect place to spend Father's Day. We followed up our visit with brunch at Stone Soup Kitchen.
Joseph and I had our second childbirth class Sunday night, so unfortunately we had to leave our parents on their own. But fortunately for us, they did our laundry and grocery shopping while we were gone!
Joe and Diane headed home Monday morning, after picking up the girls to watch them while Julie and Jake go to Italy. My mom is leaving this afternoon. It has been wonderful to spend time with our parents, and they've definitely been a huge help!
