Grandma's Visit

I had a work conference in Wichita July 24-28 (the exciting property tax conference that I've been going to for 12 years), so my wonderful mother came to help out with the kids while I was gone. Joseph said she was super helpful and he wouldn't have made it through the week without her.  Thank you, Mom!!

My mom spent a few days here before and after my conference so that I could spend some time with her as well, which was great!  She arrived on Thursday, and we had lunch near our apartment and I showed her around a little bit.  We did a little shopping on Friday before my conference, since I forgot to pack any work clothes in my luggage for temporary housing.  Saturday morning we took her to see the new house, which she loved.  On Saturday evening, Joseph's coworker Pippa hosted a cookout to welcome Joseph to the team, so my mom came along to that.  Sunday they all dropped me off at the airport and then drove down the coast to check out some beaches (I need to get the photos of that!).  I'm sure the rest of the week was just filled with work and childcare, but my mom did get to spend some good quality time with the kids.  And I'm proud of her for braving the freeways out here!

I returned on Thursday night.  Friday afternoon we all went to Netflix's product development picnic at Saratoga Springs.  Saturday was mom's last day here.  We took it easy in the morning, had lunch in Campbell, and then headed into San Francisco in the afternoon, figuring we had to drop Mom off at SFO for her redeye flight that night anyway.  It was quite the task getting into the city and finding parking, but we eventually made it.  We did the tourist thing and walked around Fisherman's Wharf and got treats at Ghiradelli Square.  We stopped for a quick dinner at In-N-Out Burger before dropping Mom off at the airport.  We miss you already!  Please come visit again soon, and next time bring Grandpa :)
