We took our "babymoon" to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, this past weekend. I wanted to get in one last vacation before the baby comes (and before I get too big and uncomfortable), and relaxing by the beach seemed perfect. Luckily we were able to use Delta SkyMiles for our flights and Marriott points for the hotel. Whatever will we do when my travel points run out???
We stayed at the CasaMagna Marriott Resort, which was near the marina, slightly north of downtown Puerto Vallarta. The hotel was very nice - open air lobby, beautiful pool, and right on the beach. Our room faced northwest, so we had a great view of the ocean and the sunsets.
We arrived at the hotel on Friday around 1, so we ate lunch and then changed into our swimsuits and lounged by the pool while we waited for our room to be ready. Then we napped, walked along the beach, and went to the marina area to grab dinner.
Saturday was more of the same - breakfast, pool, lunch, nap, pool, dinner. Joseph and I played a couple of games of ping pong in the courtyard, and he played basketball with some other guests for a while. We went into town for dinner at La Palapa, which was recommended by our friends Wally & Jessica. It was fabulous! Our table was on the beach, right next to the boardwalk - perfect for people watching. The restaurant had Mexican flaming coffee, and while we didn't order any, other patrons did and we got to watch. It was quite a show.
Sunday didn't differ much from Saturday - lots of eating and relaxing. Joseph played more basketball, but was smart to wait until the court was in the shade this time. For dinner, we went back into town to go to Vista Grill (also recommended by Wally & Jessica). It was up on a hill and offered a great view of the sunset. Unfortunately clouds settled in right before sunset, so we didn't get to see much of it. But it was still a great view and a wonderful restaurant. They even gave us a free dessert plate with "Congratulations" written on it (due to my obviously pregnant state).
Monday we had to fly home, but we got up early enough for breakfast and a nice walk on the beach. Overall it was a great trip! It was nice to get away from work and baby-planning and just relax. Plus the weather was beautiful.
Special thanks to the Brunes for watching Lucy while we were gone! She had a great time, based on how much she has slept since we've been home :)

Sounds fabulous! The "view from the pool" could be an ad for the hotel; it's gorgeous!
