Time to catch up on blogging...let's see if I can remember what we've been up to.
August 28 was our 5th anniversary - happy anniversary, Joseph! Because the traditional gift is wood, we both ended up buying each other cutting boards. Guess you can never have too many! The one Joseph got me is engraved with a beautiful tree and our names and wedding date. I got him a small one with a pretty grain pattern. The day was unfortunately a bit marred by a sad event - my Aunt Mary passed away in the afternoon. I will post separately about it later. So we didn't do much that evening after work.
Saturday morning we headed up to Marietta for Mackenzie's 2nd birthday party. It was at a gymnastics place, and they had lots of fun equipment and a pit full of foam blocks. There was a rope swing above the pit, and Joseph put Lola on it. She actually held on really well! She swung back and forth a few times, but she wouldn't let go to fall into the pit. Joseph made her fall in once or twice, and she seemed to like it. There was also a kid zipline that she loved. We had a nice lunch and cake, and then went home.
Saturday evening Joseph and I went out to celebrate our anniversary. One of the teachers from Lola's school, Jess, came over to babysit. Lola just said, "Bye!" and didn't even look at us when we left - I guess I should be glad she likes her babysitters. We went to dinner at Boccalupo in Inman Park. It was delicious! We could only get a 5:30 reservation, but that's pretty much when I normally eat, so I was okay with it. And it let us catch a 7:00 movie afterwards at Tara and still be home in bed by 10.
Sunday morning we met Paige, Courtney, Laura, and Matt at West Egg Cafe for brunch. Paige and Courtney were in town for their nephew Christian's birthday. I hadn't seen her since she got pregnant, so I was excited to catch up. Not surprisingly, she's hardly gained any weight and is barely showing. Plus she's had no nausea. Lucky girl. We had a nice brunch and talked a lot about babies and pregnancy.
Sunday after nap we went over to the annual Summer Shade Festival in Grant Park. The day started out very rainy, but the afternoon was beautiful. We walked around all the vendors, and Lola did a few activities in the kids' area. Then we went to the playground, and finally got dinner at the food trucks. We ran into a bunch of neighbors and people from Lola's school. It was a really fun afternoon.
