This past week Lola's school was closed on Monday for MLK Day and Joseph was off work, so it was nice to have everyone home again. We didn't do anything exciting, but it was nice to be all together - I had gotten used to it over the holidays and Joseph's paternity leave.
My mom and I went to check out a daycare for Thomas on Tuesday. He's on the wait list at Lola's school, the Nest, so we need to find him temporary care until he gets in. This new daycare is very close to the Nest and our house, so I think we will enroll him there. We had considered doing a nanny share to fill the gap, but we decided it would be too much work for such a short time period. Luckily we were able to find a daycare with openings - most have long wait lists. This one just opened last August, so they're still trying to fill spots.
On Wednesday, my doula, Renee, came to visit. She just wanted to check in and make sure both Thomas and I were doing well. Which we both are :) We had a nice time catching up.
On Thursday, my mom and I did a little shopping. I spent a Nordstrom gift card from last Christmas on a new purse, and we bought Thomas some more pajamas (since that's predominantly what he's been wearing). Mom also couldn't resist buying Lola a few cute things at Old Navy. We had a nice lunch at Flying Biscuit after shopping.
On Friday, there was a happy hour for Lola's playgroup. Kalee, Mark, and Ryn hosted it at their new house - they moved across the park, so not far, but not just around the corner like they were before. It was nice to get out and see our playgroup friends. I don't think we had seen them since Halloween. The kids did really well running around and playing with each other, so the adults got to eat and drink and chat. We stayed out until about 9, and luckily Lola passed out pretty quickly once we got home.
Joseph took Lola to SkyZone on Saturday morning to meet some friends. They both had fun, and Joseph said he was sore the next day, so they got some exercise too. My parents suggested we have a date night while they were still in town, so Joseph and I went to Argosy for dinner and drinks. We had a nice time. And when we came home, my parents had both kids in bed and asleep! Very impressive.
We all went out to brunch at Stone Soup Kitchen on Sunday. Lola was very excited for her pancakes and fruit. After we got home, Heather stopped by to drop off dinner for us. My friends are doing a meal train and will be bringing us dinner over the next few weeks. It is so nice of them and so very helpful! Heather brought a delicious dish of chicken parmesan.
Monday morning my parents headed to Florida. They had been with us for almost 5 weeks, since they came down for Christmas and to be here for Thomas' birth. We had a blast with them and they were extremely helpful, but I know they were ready to get to their winter vacation. They are going to Saint Augustine for a few days, then the Villages, and then to Sanibel Island for the whole month of February. Unfortunately we won't be visiting them there this year since Thomas is so young, but hopefully we'll go back next year! Thanks for everything, Mom and Dad! We miss you already!
