I never got around to writing about Christmas since Thomas joined us two days after. But we had a wonderful Christmas. This was our first time staying in Atlanta for the holidays, and thus was our first time hosting as well. We obviously couldn't travel because of Thomas' impending arrival, but fortunately my family agreed to visit. My parents arrived on December 22, and my brother and his husband, Horacio, arrived the evening of December 24.
Earlier in the week, I celebrated by having one last pregnancy massage, as well as my 39-week appointment with the midwives. Paige and Courtney were in town for the holiday, so they came by for lunch on Tuesday. Wednesday and Thursday we just hung around home with my parents and got ready for Christmas.
On Friday, we had a leisurely Christmas morning with a nice breakfast. There were of course a ton of presents (no matter how often my mom says she'll cut back, she never does), most of which were for Lola. I don't think she really understands Christmas yet, but she does know what presents are now and enjoyed handing them out and opening them. We spent the whole day at home just hanging out. For Christmas dinner, my dad made a delicious prime rib.
Horacio had never been to Atlanta, so Ben decided we should go to the World of Coke. We headed there Saturday morning, the day after Christmas. Lola really liked her first taste of soda! We didn't let her have much, but we figured we had to let her try it. After, we had lunch at Six Feet Under. Then we all went home and relaxed, and then had a pizza dinner at Cameli's. Ben, Horacio, and Joseph went out for drinks later in the evening (although I summoned Joseph back early when my water broke).
Unfortunately Ben and Horacio had to drive back to Miami on Sunday morning, so they weren't here when Thomas was born. But we loved having them visit, and we were especially excited to finally meet Horacio.
It was a great Christmas! Obviously Thomas was the best present of all :)
