8 Weeks

Happy New Year!

Today is the first day of 2013, and it also marks the end of the eighth week of my pregnancy.  The symptoms have really taken over.  I am tired most of the time, and I am constantly nauseous.  I am trying to snack frequently in an attempt to keep the nausea at bay, but it's not really working.  Luckily I was off of work for almost two weeks, so I was able to rest.  I have done pretty much nothing in the four days since we've been home from LA.  It's been relaxing, but I had hoped to get a lot of chores done around the house.

Tomorrow I go back to work, and I'm hoping I will feel okay and be able to last the whole day.  At least it is a short week - only three days of work and then it's the weekend again (and my birthday!).

Despite my discomfort, Joseph and I are really excited about the baby!  And I've read that having morning sickness is a good sign, although I suspect that is said just to make you feel better about being sick :)  We are anxiously awaiting my first doctor's appointment next Monday, when we will hopefully get to see the baby on an ultrasound.  And I'm hoping she may be able to prescribe something to help with the sickness.

I subscribe to emails from BabyCenter, which describe what is going on during each week of pregnancy.  They always compare the baby's size to an item of food, and at eight weeks, the baby is the size of a kidney bean.  It's crazy to think about!
