Lola continues to make us smile every day. We are having so much fun getting to know her and watching her grow.
This past week we did lots of fun things:
- Attended a breastfeeding support group meeting. This may not sound "fun", but it was nice to meet some other new moms and discuss breastfeeding issues. Stephanie and Ingrid went as well, and there were four other moms and babies.
- Had our postpartum meeting with our doula. Both Renee (the doula we hired and the teacher of our childbirth classes) and Carrie (her backup, who actually attended our birth since I went into labor early when Renee was in Europe) came over to our house last Friday morning to meet Lola. We discussed the birth, and Carrie was so sweet in telling me what a great job I did. She shared some photos she took on her phone, which brought the whole day back and made me cry. We also talked about Lola and how we're all adjusting. It was nice just to chat - they are both great women and were very supportive of me before, during, and after Lola's birth.
- Visited PowerPlan. I met some coworkers for lunch last Friday, and then took Lola over to the office to show her off. It was fun seeing my coworkers and introducing Lola to them. While I don't miss work, I do miss my work friends!
- Attended Vince's second birthday party - Lola's first party! It was at a park near the DePetros' house, and the weather was perfect for an outdoor party. All the children ran around playing - except for Lola, of course, who spent the whole party sleeping in someone's arms. She got to meet the whole DePetro clan (my second family), so that was great.
- Went to hear music at Grant-Ormond park. This is a weekly event in our neighborhood put on by the Grant Park Parents Network. There is a playgroup for each age group, and our group is the Otters (for children born from March until now). Our playgroup decided to meet up at the music event, so Lola and I walked over to the small park on the other side of the neighborhood. We met some other parents and their babies, and hopefully we'll see them again soon at a playdate. It was fun to sit on the grass and listen to music, but I'm not sure how much Lola took in :)
- Visited Clearleap (Joseph's work). Yesterday I drove up to Duluth to visit Joseph at work. We grabbed sandwiches for lunch, and then took Lola around his office to meet everyone. It was fun to see where he works, since he just started there in May. I could tell Joseph was happy to see Lola in the middle of the day. He was a proud papa parading her around the office.
- Went shopping at Old Navy today. I decided I needed some new clothes so that I can quit wearing maternity clothes (my pre-baby clothes don't quite fit yet). I took a gamble going shopping, but luckily Lola behaved and slept most of the time in the stroller, even allowing me to try things on!
- Had Lola's one-month pediatrician's appointment on Monday. She weighs 9 pounds 14 ounces and is 22.25 inches long. Growing very well! The doctor said everything looks great. She will get her first round of shots next month, which I'm dreading, but hopefully she'll do well.

Cuuuuuute girl!!! Shots suck. But, I always nursed M immediately after, right in the exam room (they encouraged it) and that usually did the trick. I did cry almost every time though, and I made Chris go with me for the first ones :) Hope hers aren't too bad!
