It was a beautiful Easter weekend. The weather was a little chilly, but sunny and warm enough by the afternoon. Saturday morning we went to the Alliance Theatre for a performance by the Theatre for the Very Young. They put on shows targeted at kids ages 5 and under. We had heard great things about the current show from a few friends that went, so we decided to take Lola. The show was called
Roob & Noob, and it was inspired by Rube Goldberg's machines. There were three actors, and they put together machines that did different things. The whole show centered around the seasons and a flower blooming. It was very cute, and it kept Lola's attention the whole time. They invited the kids to participate a few times, but Lola kind of stood shyly to the back. But I think she enjoyed it. It was a nice family activity, and something different.
After the show, we went home and immediately headed out to the park for another Easter egg hunt, put on by the Grant Park Parents Network. It was HUGE - over 200 people responded to the Facebook event, and there were easily 300-400 people there. We were walking up just as they released the toddler group to hunt, and by the time we walked into the grass, all the eggs were gone (about two minutes after it started). Luckily Lola didn't seem to notice, and my friend Alan was in charge of hiding the eggs, so he gave her one.
We found our playgroup friends, as well as Joseph's old coworker Valeri (she is good friends with our playgroup friends, the Varners), and we hung out for a while on the grass. It was such a beautiful day, I wish I had thought to pack a picnic. We headed home for lunch and nap.
Lola and I went to Target and Publix to do some shopping in the afternoon, while Joseph worked on the mudroom and in the yard. After we got back, we all headed out for a family Home Depot trip and dinner at Eats.
Sunday was Easter, and we didn't have any plans, so we had a relaxing morning with a pancake breakfast. Then we took a leisurely walk around the park, stopping at the playground before heading home for lunch. Joseph worked on the mudroom some more while Lola napped, and I caught up on the blog (must get better about writing more frequently!). After she woke up, we gave her her Easter baskets - one from us and one from Grandma and Grandpa. They didn't have much, just a little candy (we usually don't give her sweets). We FaceTimed with Grandma and Grandpa while they were at Aunt Maggie's, so we got to see all of the aunts. Then we headed outside for some egg dyeing.
