Play dates

Two weekends ago we had two play dates scheduled on Sunday.  It made for a hectic day - we had to reschedule our Saturday play date to Sunday morning, when we already had plans in the afternoon.  But it was very fun, although admittedly exhausting.  It's embarrassing that we can really only handle one social event a day :)

Luckily our Saturday was pretty low key.  I volunteered at a 5K in Grant Park as part of the Grant Park Parents Network, and it was actually pretty fun.  I handed out numbers to the racers and got to chat with some other moms from our playgroup.  The rest of the day we spent around the house, working on projects and chores.

Sunday morning the Mlynarskis came down to go to the zoo with us.  The last time we went to the zoo with them, before the girls were even one year old, they didn't sit well together in the wagon.  Mainly because Lola kept pulling Mackenzie's hair.  But this time they both enjoyed riding in it, and they got along well while walking around.  It was overcast and a little chilly, but we enjoyed it.  The new reptile exhibit had just opened - it's a beautiful new building.  After the zoo we went to Tomatillos for lunch, and then we parted ways to get the girls home for naps.  We don't get to see Wally and Jessica as much as we'd like to since they live in Marietta, so we enjoyed catching up with them.

Lola must have been exhausted from her morning because she slept for a long time.  We had to wake her up around 4 to head out, since we had planned to be at the Pirrottas' house by 3:30.  We were having dinner with them and the Shalloways.  They each have a daughter as well - Lena is 22 months and Olivia is 14 months.  Plus Kelsey is due in early June with her second daughter!

We hung out in the den for a while and let the girls play.  Unfortunately Lola was a bit of a bully.  She didn't bother Lena, but she kept pushing Olivia and pulling her hair.  My guess is because she was so much smaller than Lola.  We kept reprimanding her, but she kept doing it.  So we just tried to keep them apart.  Kelsey and Aaron made a delicious dinner for us, and the girls all ate pretty peacefully.  They played together happily for a bit after dinner, and then we headed home for bed.  We had a great time visiting with our friends!
