Weekend Update - April 25

We were supposed to go camping this past weekend with friends, but the weather forecast called for 100% chance of rain on Saturday, so we canceled the trip.  It did rain hard Friday night into Saturday morning, but the rest of the weekend was pretty much sunny and warm.  So we probably could have gone camping and just had a slightly soggy Saturday morning.  Oh well.  Hopefully we can reschedule sometime soon.

Luckily we had a few fun events we had previously declined, and now we could make them.  The first event was Caleb's first birthday party.  Lola got dressed up in a pretty new dress (courtesy of Grandma) and pigtails.  The party was great - as usual, Jessica outdid herself with the creative food and decorations.  Lola had a lot of fun playing with the older kids, and of course she loved her cupcake.  It was fun for us adults as well, since we got to chat with our friends.

After the party, we drove home and Lola fell asleep in the car.  Fortunately she transferred to the crib and continued to sleep for about 2 hours.  Our next party was Atticus's second birthday party, which we went to around 4.  We walked over to the Varners' house on the west side of the park.  They had a lot of fun bubble toys for the kids to play with - Lola LOVES bubbles.  They had some yummy snacks and a delicious cake from a local baker.  I am definitely ordering Lola's next cake from her.  We had a great time chatting with our playgroup friends.  Unfortunately we had to leave while the party was still going on so that we could get dinner and put Lola to bed.  We had dinner at our local favorite, El Mexicano, and then headed home for bed.

Sunday morning Lola and I went to Publix for our weekly grocery trip.  Then we went to Ikea to check out some furniture for my new work office.  I always forget how crazy Ikea is until I go there.  I love their stuff but it's always so crowded!  We came home for lunch and nap.  We had planned to either go to the Inman Park Festival or a cookout that one of Lola's teachers was hosting after Lola woke up, but she slept for almost FOUR hours.  Longest nap ever.  I guess she was exhausted from the parties the day before.  Since she didn't wake up until 4:30, we decided to just go for a long walk and make a quick stop at the playground before dinner in bed.  It was a fun-filled, but also relaxing, weekend.
