Last week we watched our neighbors' dog Dooley (they're UGA grads) for a few days while they went to New York. Lola loved him; it was really sweet. I thought she might be scared of having two dogs around, but she thought it was so much fun. When she woke up in the morning, she immediately asked where "my doggies" were. When Derrick came to pick up Dooley on Saturday morning, Lola was very sad. She kept asking, "Where my Dooley go?"
We started our weekend with an impromptu trip to the zoo. Lila's mom, Heather, texted me Saturday morning to say they were heading to the zoo and meeting Wren and her dad, Patrick. We had no plans, so Lola and I went to meet them. We had to pick up our new membership cards anyway. The three girls had so much fun running around together. Maybe too much fun, as they ran all the way through the reptile exhibit and out the exit before we caught up to them. It got quite hot while we were there, so we headed to the splash pad and put the girls in their bathing suits. Lola was surprisingly timid for how much she usually loves water, but she did play a little bit. We ran into my college friend Celyn and her son Patrick, so it was fun to see them. After some playground time, we went home for lunch and nap.
Saturday evening we went over to the Sanduskys' house. I used to work with Alan at PowerPlan, and he and his wife Shannon have an eight-month-old son, Josh. They live about three blocks away from us, so we had a nice post-thunderstorm walk over. We got a tour of their house, including their newly renovated attic - it is beautiful. Then Alan grilled us up a delicious dinner. Lola did pretty well with Josh and seemed to like helping him, like giving him his pacifier.
Sunday I went to get a prenatal massage at the Pregnancy Massage Center. It was great and very relaxing. I went several times when I was pregnant with Lola, and I loved it, especially as I got bigger. The rest of the day we didn't do much, just the normal chores and hanging around the house.
We did have a big debacle with our internet over the weekend. We sat down Friday night after Lola went to bed, all ready to watch House of Cards on Netflix, but our DVD player (which we use to stream) said it wasn't connected to the internet. All of our other devices were connected fine, so Joseph restarted the modem to see if it would trigger the DVD player to reconnect. It did the opposite, and shut down our internet completely. After many calls to Comcast and many, many hours spent by Joseph troubleshooting over the weekend, Joseph fixed it by buying a new modem and router. Neither of which we should have had to buy, since we're pretty sure Comcast messed up our modem, but at least we have internet back. I said it was actually kind of nice to be disconnected for a few days, but Joseph did not agree.
