Today I had my first ultrasound - and we found out that we're having a boy! Joseph and I are both really excited. While we would have been happy with another girl (and Lola said she wanted a sister), we think it will be great to have one of each. Plus, we have ended the Breuer streak of girls - it has been 10 years and 5 girls since the last boy was born, and out of 10 grandchildren, only 2 are boys.
It was also exciting to see the baby for the first time. Unlike my pregnancy with Lola, we didn't have the dating ultrasound at 9 weeks or the genetic testing ultrasound at 12 weeks, so this was our first glimpse of the baby. The sonographer was very thorough, so we got to watch the baby for a nice long time. Almost the first thing she asked was if we wanted to know the sex, because he was clearly displaying it for us. Then she checked out the rest of his development, and she said everything looks good and right on track for 20 weeks. She said he weighs about 12 ounces right now. He was moving a ton, so once he gets a bit bigger, I'm sure I'll feel him all the time. Right now I just feel little flutters every now and then.
Other than that exciting news, nothing much else to report. I'm still feeling kind of sick but mostly better. I've been extra exhausted this week, but that could be because of Lola's party and the fact that work is really busy/stressful right now.
Now it's time to start getting the house ready for the baby! I'm looking forward to preparing his room, as well as Lola's big girl room. And I also plan to go through Lola's clothes and get rid of most of the girl-specific stuff.
