Weekend Update - July 25

I started the weekend early with girls' night at Jessica's on Thursday.  It was nice to get some adult time with my friends, even if I couldn't drink.  I at least got to eat yummy food and chat.  I was of course the first to leave, though - got to make my 10pm bedtime.

The Nest had a potluck dinner Friday after school.  I brought a crock pot of meatballs (easy), and the other parents brought lots of great food.  We had a nice dinner with Lola's friends and their parents.  Unfortunately Joseph couldn't join us because he was still at work.

On Saturday we didn't do anything too exciting.  I was preparing for a work trip on Sunday (my first since Lola was born), so we did a lot of errands and chores to make sure Lola and Joseph would be okay without me - grocery shopping, laundry, general tidying around the house, etc.  We had a nice dinner at Doc Chey's.  Can't beat "kids eat free" nights!

Sunday morning we headed out for a short walk, and Lola almost immediately fell and scraped her knee while running down the sidewalk.  She was pretty pitiful about it, and it was bleeding, so I guess she was justified in her behavior.  We went home and patched her up, then headed back out for the walk.  Unfortunately she no longer wanted to walk nor ride in the stroller, so Joseph ended up carrying her.

We had a quick lunch at home, and then Joseph and Lola dropped me off at the airport.  It was sad to say goodbye.  I flew to Oklahoma City and then drove to Wichita for the annual property tax conference.  I used to go every year but hadn't been since 2011.  It was nice to catch up with old clients and spend some time with my old PowerPlan coworkers, and we got a lot of good feedback about our company.  The conference generally involves a lot of wining and dining, and I was just too exhausted for all of that.  I went to all of the conference receptions but went to bed early every night.  Quite a change from prior years, which included late nights drinking and beer pong.  I enjoyed the change though, and I must admit it was nice to get a few nights of sleep without having to worry about putting a kid to bed or getting her up in the morning.  But I really did miss Lola and Joseph a lot, so I was very happy to see them when I came home on Wednesday.

(Not many photos this weekend..,)
