We started our weekend with a Saturday morning trip to Publix to stock up on groceries for the week, as well as Lola's school birthday party on Sunday. We dropped off the groceries and headed straight to Catch Air for Matteson's 4th birthday party. Lola had never been there before, so I was interested to see how she liked it. She was a bit timid a first, but then she warmed up and seemed to enjoy herself. It helped that Olivia was there and she loves Lola, so she kind of took her under her wing and hung out with her. Lola didn't go in the big climbing structure, but she played on the smaller things and went down a slide or two. She kept asking for cake, so she was super excited when we went into the party room for pizza and cake. Her eyes lit up when she saw the big princess castle cake! It was a fun party for me too, as I got to chat with several of my girlfriends. I hope Matteson had a great birthday! I can't believe she is four already.
We had people come by Saturday afternoon to buy our old guest room furniture. We sold it to make room for new furniture in Lola's soon-to-be new room. After they left, we went to Daddy D'z for some yummy barbecue.
Sunday morning we hosted Lola's school friends for a birthday party. All but one of her classmates came, and she was excited to see everyone. I was a lot less stressed for this party since we had made all the food the night before - the cupcakes and a couple of egg casseroles - and didn't have much to do in the morning. The kids played inside for a while and ate, and then they headed outside to the baby pool. We came back in to sing "Happy Birthday", then out to the front porch to eat cupcakes and swing. Although we said "no gifts", Lola did receive a few, so she got to open presents yet again after everyone left. She's going to think she gets presents every weekend! She got a few books and a Lego set, and she loved everything.
We ended the weekend by cleaning up and doing chores. Thankfully Lola loves to help me with the laundry!
