Weekly Update - October 11

The week of October 5 Joseph was in Las Vegas for a work conference.  I was kind of nervous about having to take care of Lola all by myself for a week.  Bedtimes have gotten difficult now that she's in a regular bed, and being in my pregnant state, I just can't physically deal with a lot of Lola's demands.  Plus I'd have to do morning drop-off and evening pick-up, cutting short my work day.

But we made it through alive!  I did fail on one front - I let her sleep in her crib every night when she asked.  It seemed easier than fighting with her to get her to sleep in her bed.  Of course as soon as Joseph came back, he was able to get her to sleep in her bed.  She definitely follows his orders much more than mine.

Joseph got home late Friday night, and Saturday was his birthday, so he relaxed a lot to catch up on sleep and adjust back to the time zone.  He got up with Lola and had breakfast, then took a nap while Lola and I went to Publix for our weekly grocery run.  We hung around the house the rest of the afternoon.

That night we had tickets to a play, Tiger Style, at the Alliance Theatre.  We went with the Brunes and the Edwardses.  Kat and Sarah joined us for dinner at Bocado beforehand, while Matt and Ben opted to meet us at the theater so that they could watch Georgia Tech play (and lose to) Clemson.  They play wasn't our favorite, but I still enjoyed getting out.  Afterwards, we went to Rocky Mountain for a brief visit - our friends Nitin and Dave were having a 39th birthday party.  It was fun seeing friends I hadn't seen in a while, and they definitely went all out on the party - sky lights circling outside, a custom airbrush trucker hat station, and lots of drinks.  We didn't stay too long since I was exhausted, and we told the babysitter we'd be home around 11.

Sunday morning we drove up to Canton to visit Cagle's Farms with the Mlynarskis.  We wanted to get some pumpkins for our house, and also just spend some fun family time together.  Lola played in a corn sandbox, and she tried out a bouncy trampoline thing (which she did not like).  She was infatuated with the ponies and kept saying she wanted to go on one, but then when she sat on one, she cried almost the entire time.  But it was an improvement from last year when she wouldn't even sit on one!  We also took a hayride around the farm, met and fed some animals, and watched a pig race.  It was fun seeing Lola and Mackenzie interact.  Lola kept asking to hold Mackenzie's hand.  They were so cute.

After that, it was our usual Sunday of doing boring things around the house. And it was another Sunday without a nap, as Lola napped for 20 minutes in the car and decided that was enough.  Doesn't she realize I need my nap too??
