Bookshelves

For about 4 months now, Joseph has been working on building bookshelves for our office.  We decided to replace our old IKEA bookshelves because they were not well suited to storing books, and also because we wanted to create a space for an aquarium.  We couldn't find anything suitable in stores, so we decided to design our own bookshelves.  This allowed us to make them look like built-ins and to leave the right amount of space for the aquarium.

While it took quite some time (Joseph could really only work on them on the weekends), it was definitely worth it!  We finished last night and they look amazing.  Joseph built them out of pine and used oak trim on the front. He also added crown molding to the top.  Then he stained them, and we finished them off with two coats of polyurethane.  I love them!  They look so much nicer than our old bookshelves, plus we have a lot more space for books.
