Baby Boy Breuer - 34 Weeks

Today I am 34 weeks along in my pregnancy.  And it definitely feels like the end is near.  Yesterday I started feeling really awful - achy everywhere, with sharp pains in my pelvis.  It kind of felt like the flu with all the aches, but I didn't have a fever.  I think maybe I overdid it this weekend, and I've also been picking Lola up a lot (per her requests).  I took some Tylenol and got in bed with a heating pad at 9 and was asleep by 10.  I got a decent night's sleep, so I'm feeling somewhat better today.  Sleep has also been difficult for me lately, which is something I didn't experience with Lola.

I met with one of the midwives, Janet, today.  I told her about my pains, and she said it all sounded normal and that second pregnancies are sometimes tougher because your muscles have already been stretched out once.  Not to mention the fact that I'm dealing with a toddler.  She just told me to take it easy and call in people to help.  Easier said than done, since work is extremely busy right now and unfortunately we have no family nearby (well, Joseph's sister is in Cumming, but she has three kids and a hectic schedule of her own).  Joseph has luckily taken over most of the bedtime duties, so that's a big help - giving Lola a bath and wrangling her into bed isn't always an easy task.  Janet also recommended a maternity support belt, so I ordered one today and will see if that helps.

I started going to a chiropractor two weeks ago.  I went when I was pregnant with Lola, and I thought that it really helped with my lower back pain.  This time I'm going to a different chiropractor that my friend Stephanie recommended, since we've changed insurance policies and it's not much cheaper to go with an in-network doctor.  So far I really like her.  She specializes in prenatal and pediatric care, so perfect for me.  I'm going to keep going about twice a week until the baby is born.

Joseph painted the nursery last weekend, so that's a big item to cross off the list.  He just needs to move all the furniture back into place, and then I'll hang some artwork and we'll be done with it.

The baby has been moving a LOT lately.  Big movements too, so they kind of hurt - I feel like he's beating me up inside.  But it's reassuring to feel him move around.  I'm starting to get excited about meeting him!
