First Day

Today was my first day back at work.  And surprisingly, I was not a complete mess.  Yesterday our nanny, LaKeisha, came to our house and Stephanie dropped off Ingrid.  I stayed downstairs doing housework while LaKeisha was upstairs with the babies, and I left for a bit to go to the grocery store. Lola did very well with LaKeisha, so that was good practice and made me feel better about today.

Lola was a bit difficult to put to sleep last night, so I was expecting a bad night, but she went to bed around 10:30 and slept until 6:30 this morning.  I fed her and then she went back to sleep while I got ready for work.  Normally Joseph will do the morning drop off with the nanny, but he had a meeting in Decatur at 9 (for a property tax appeal for our East Atlanta house), so I stayed until LaKeisha got here around 8:15.  The fact that Lola was still sleeping made it easier to leave - I didn't actually have to hand her off to anyone.  LaKeisha was great and texted me a couple of photos during the day, and Stephanie called me after she picked up Ingrid to let me know that Lola was doing well and was very happy.

Work was pretty easy today.  I spent most of the day catching up on emails and what my group is working on, and of course talking to everyone about Lola.  Hopefully this week I can just ease back into work.  Tomorrow Joseph will do drop off, so I'm going to try to leave for work around 7, which is a huge departure from my pre-baby time of about 9 (I need to get in early so I can be home by 5:30 to relieve the nanny).  They say having kids makes you a morning person, so I just hope that becomes true for me sometime soon!

All in all, it was a good day and it looks like both Lola and I will adjust to this new routine.  But I will still miss her every day and look forward to her smiling face when I come home.
