Wow, it feels like Lola was just born, but she's already 12 weeks old! I feel like I say that every week :)
We had a great last week together before I went back to work. We had lunch with Jessica on Tuesday, and we met my coworker Stephen for lunch on Thursday. Then we met Joseph at his work for lunch on Friday. It was nice to go on a few last outings together. Plus we got in a few more walks in the park.
Lola is still a very happy girl, and we love it. She's also started sleeping through the night again, which is perfect timing with me working again. She's been going to sleep between 9 and 10 and waking up between 6 and 7. It's great!
We're still working on our new routine. In the morning, I get up at 6 and get ready for work and feed Lola (the order depends on when she wakes up). Then Joseph takes over and watches her until the nanny arrives at 8:30. I leave work around 4:45 to get home by 5:30 (traffic is so variable I need to give myself that much time) and get Lola from the nanny. Joseph gets home sometime between 6 and 7.
I was prepared for a different lifestyle with a baby, but it was shocking to me how I have no free time anymore. Last night we got home from work, fed Lola, made dinner, ate dinner, did Lola's bedtime routine (bath, lotion, feed), put her to bed, cleaned the kitchen, washed the bottles, and then it was time for us to go to bed! Hopefully we'll get used to it and maybe streamline some of our chores so that we have some downtime in the evening before bed. I'm also guessing she'll start going to bed earlier, but I'm not sure how to tell when she's ready. Plus I want to make sure she keeps sleeping until at least 6, so I don't want to move up her bedtime and affect her wake-up time. Also, it's shocking to me the things I think and worry about now, like bedtimes :)

Oh my GOSH those smiles just do me in. I love her. You'll figure out this new routine - soon she'll be taking fewer bottles, and you can make a bunch of crock pot meals and frozen soups in advance, and she will go to bed earlier. I don't remember how we knew - maybe when they start to get cranky earlier? The more alert she gets the more rest she'll need. So glad your transition back to work is going well!
ReplyDeleteThese pictures are too cute! It looks like y'all are having a lot of fun!
ReplyDeleteEvenings for us were full and a little monotonous for a while, especially the never-ending bottle cleaning! But then something about her will change, the routine will shift, and you'll miss the previous stage! The changes happen so quickly, for better or for worse. :)
