26 Weeks

Monday marked 26 weeks.  Almost to the third trimester!

Last weekend was a rainy one.  It rained most of the day Saturday, which was fine by me because then I didn't feel like I was missing anything by staying inside.  I spent a good portion of the weekend organizing our attic.  The biggest task was organizing our filing cabinet.  I hadn't filed our papers in quite some time, so there were stacks to be filed.  After I conquered that, I went through and tossed any irrelevant papers.  Not sure why I saved my credit card statements from college!  Now the filing cabinets are much more organized and usable, and the attic in general is cleaner.  Being organized makes me happy :)

Monday night I went to water aerobics with Stephanie.  It was great!  I felt so much better afterwards. My joints have started getting achy, but after class, I felt fine.  I've signed up for the weekly class and plan to go for the rest of my pregnancy.  Plus I'll continue doing my pregnancy yoga DVD at home (thanks, Paige!).

Wednesday morning I had my 26-week appointment.  I was scheduled to take my glucose tolerance test (GTT), which checks for gestational diabetes.  When I got to the office, I had to drink a super sugary orange drink.  It wasn't awful, which was good because I had heard bad things about the taste.  Then I met with the midwife.  We discussed how I was feeling, and then she checked the fetal heartbeat and measured my stomach.  Everything was great with the baby.  After I met with the midwife, I went to the receptionist to make my next appointment; then I would have to wait another 30 minutes before they could test my blood for the GTT.  I started feeling really faint and asked the receptionist if that was normal.  She said no and called the nurse over. The nurse had me lie back on a recliner and brought me a cold towel.  Then I threw up the entire drink, which unfortunately meant I couldn't be tested that day.  So I have to go back in two weeks and try again.  I am going after lunch next time, and I hope that having a full stomach will help me keep the drink down.  I guess my body just can't handle that much sugar at one time.

Tonight I'm getting ready for my trip to Pittsburgh tomorrow morning.  My mom and aunts are throwing me a baby shower on Saturday.  I'm so excited to go home and see all of my family and friends!
